There is something about the new cosmetic “option” for thicker eyelashes that bothers me, though I’m not sure what it is. Perhaps it’s the resistance I still feel after leaving behind those false lashes I wore while modeling with Wilhelmina in the 70s.

Glaucoma eye drops drug Latisse used OTC to make long eyelashes but some now face side effects
From the NYTimes:Latisse is the same formula as Lumigan, Allergan’s eyedrops for glaucoma, which reduces eye pressure but also happens to grow lashes. Both are also known as bimatoprost ophthalmic solution.

The National Cancer Institute and the pharmaceutical maker Allergan Inc. are jointly supporting a trial to determine whether bimatoprost (Latisse) can stimulate regrowth of eyelashes and eyebrows after their loss in chemotherapy. The company told a Food and Drug Administration advisory committee in December 2008 that it would explore that potential use of the drug.
